Arrival in Chopta: Reach Chopta from Haridwar/Rishikesh (approx. 7-8 hours drive, 200 km). Altitude: 2,680 meters. Activities: Explore the lush meadows, pine forests, and scenic landscapes. Acclimatize to the altitude. Overnight Stay: Camp/guesthouse in Chopta.
Trek Distance: 4 km (one-way). Altitude: 3,680 meters. Trek Time: 3-4 hours. Highlights: Start trekking towards Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. The trail passes through dense forests of rhododendron and pine. Reach Tungnath, explore the ancient temple and the panoramic view of Himalayan ranges (Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Peak). Overnight Stay: Camp/guesthouse near Tungnath.
Trek Distance: 1.5 km to Chandrashila (one-way), 5.5 km total descent. Altitude: 4,000 meters. Trek Time: 1-2 hours to Chandrashila summit; 4-5 hours total for the day. Highlights: Early morning trek to the Chandrashila Summit to catch the sunrise. Chandrashila offers breathtaking 360-degree views of some of the major Himalayan peaks like Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, and Kedarnath. After soaking in the view, trek back to Chopta.
Return Journey: Drive back to Haridwar/Rishikesh. Optional: You can visit Deoria Tal, a scenic lake near Sari village, if time permits (requires an extra day).
