Eravikulam is one of Kerala’s finest wildlife reserves, and its excellent location, a mere 16 km from Munnar, makes it an unforgettable experience for any lover of the outdoors. The park, a spread of 97 km across Rajamalai Hills, is a combination of grassland and shola forests. The Atlas moth, the largest of its kind in the world, is a unique inhabitant of the park. Other rare species of fauna found here are the Nilgiri Langur, the lion-tailed macaque, leopards, tigers, etc.

How to Reach Eravikulam National Park:

 

By Air:

Nearest major airport is Cochin International airport which is about 125 km away. Taxi services are available from airport to Munnar which cost about Rs 3000. Cochin airport is well connected with all major cities in India and many cities abroad.

 

By Rail:

Nearest rail head is Angamaly or Alwaye, both are nearly 120 km away from Munnar. Angamaly is an important rail junction in Ernakulum – Trissur route and is well connected to all cities in India. Taxi from Angamaly to Munnar costs about a minimum charge of Rs 2500.

 

By Road:

Munnar is connected to other cities in Kerala and Tamil Nadu by state government public transport buses, but are less frequent. Many tour providers arrange packaged bus tours to Munnar from Cochin. The charges will be about Rs 1000 per head.

Itinerary:

 

 

Day 01: Cochin - Munnar


Arrive Cochin, on arrival met the airport and straight drive to Munnar, On arrival check in at hotel, O/N stay at hotel.

 


Day 02: Munnar - Mattupetty


After breakfast proceed for a city tour of Munnar set amid Southern India's most dramatic mountain scenery and the combination of craggy Peaks, Manicured Tea Estates.Crisp mountain air makes Munnar a delightful alternative to the better known hill stations of Tamil Nadu. It is a perennial favorite of 'Honeymooners' and offer magnificent scenery and wonderful walks. At Munnar you are free to explore its beauty of nature. Later drive to Mattupetty. On arrival check in at wildlife resort, Rest of the day at leisure, O/N stay at hotel.

 


Day 03 - Mattupetty- Eravikulam National Park


After breakfast visit to Mattupetty famous for its highly specialized dairy farm, the Indo-Swiss live stock project. Over 100 varieties of high yielding cattle are reared here. Later proceed to Mattupetty lake and dam, which is a very beautiful picnic spot and enjoy boating in the lake and view mountains and landscapes. Later, drive to Eravikulam National Park to see rare mountain goats locally called the Nilgiri Tahr, Old Munnar Town and the Mattupetty Dam. Overnight stay at Resort

 


Day 04 - Eravikulam National Park - Devikulam


After breakfast proceed to a little town with green slopes and gum trees, famous for its beautiful and calm lake, Devikulam (Lake of the Goddess). This town is 16kms away from Munnar, Devikulam hill station is located at a height of 1800 meters above sea level The hill station is famous for its unique flora and fauna. The hill station has a paradise like feel to it and nature blooms in its best form here. O/N stay at the hill resort.

 


Day 05 - Devikulam - Cochin - Delhi


Morning at leisure, Later, drive to Cochin airport to board your flight for to back home.
